Web Design Professions Job Description Education Needed
Web Designer

Designers create web pages that are compatible with a wide range of hardware and software and help clients and web producers develop and refine ideas.

A degree in visual arts or visual design is helpful in finding a job, although not needed.  A considerable knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS is looked for, too.
Web Developer

Web developers are responsible for the layout, look and feel of websites, building sites using programming languages and graphic design, and often managing websites after development.

No education is required to be a web developer, but most employers look for at least a bachelor's degree in Web development or Web design.
Webmaster

Although a webmaster sometimes assumes the role of a web designer, their main job is to monitor, improve, and update the performance of existing Web sites.

No formal education is actually required to be a webmaster, although there are a number of programs to help in learning how to successfully webmaster.
web Author

A web author/editor is responsible for the content and images used on a website by planning, researching, writing, copying and editing the content of a website.

Degree course subjects such as communications, journalism and multimedia may be useful, although not required.
