Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of the history,
achievements, culture, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors
came from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, Central and South American. It
is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. "On the 2000 Census form,
people of Spanish/Hispanic/Latino origin could identify themselves as
Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, or other Spanish/Hispanic/Latino.
More than 35 million
people identified themselves as
Hispanic or Latino. I choose three Hispanic
Americans; Jessica Alba, Mario Lopez, and Selena Gomez; to highlight
what they have done with their talent and fame to help break more
barriers for the Latin-American community.
