Hispanic Heritage Month is recognized from September 15th to October 15th, and is nationally celebrated to recognize the contributions of Hispanics to the United States, and also to celebrate Hispanic culture. The first day of the month, September 15th, is an important date to Hispanic culture because it's the Independence Day of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Additionally, Mexico celebrates independence day on September 16th, and Chile on the 18th. The links to the left lead to information about three famous Hispanic Americans.
