  -September 15th to October 15th is when we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. These dates are significant because five Latin American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua), plus Mexico and Chile gained their independence within those 31 days.  It is time for us to learn more about Hispanic culture and heritage. It also allows us to recognize important Hispanic figures.

 

  -Three important figures are  Dr. Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic female to go to space, Frida Kahlo, an artist, and Gregory Nava, a director. To learn more about these  people, click on their name to the left
