Dr. Ellen Ochoa was born in San
Diego California in 1958. She received a bachelor of science degree in physics
from San Diego State University and a master of science degree and
doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University. She is married to
Coe Fulmer Miles and they have two children together. In 1991 Dr. Ochoa became
an astronaut. She has worked on many important missions, including the first
docking to the International Space Station. Dr. Ochoa has logged over 978 hours
in space and has received many awards for her work with NASA. In her free time
she plays classical flute, is a private pilot, and enjoys playing volleyball and
bicycling.
