Hispanic Heritage Month is a month that is celebrated from September 15 to October 15 in the United States. This month came to be in September 1968, when Lyndon B. Johnson created National Hispanic Heritage Week. However, this came to be Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988 (www.biography.com/hispanicheritage). The month commemorates the achievements and accomplishments, as well as the traditions that came from Spanish-speaking countries such as Spain, Mexico, and countries in South and Central America. It starts on the 15th of September to  celebrate the day that five Latin-American countries declared independence:  Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua (http://www.factmonster.com/spot/hhm1.html). From actresses to scientist to teachers to every other job in the world, Latinos and Latinas are celebrated for their great achievements in the history of the United States of America.
