very modest and challenging circumstances, I consider my life to be
immeasurably rich." |

Sonia Sotomayor was born
on June 25, 1954. Sotomayor was born and raised in the projects in
Bronx, New York. Both her parents were from Puerto Rico and
move to New York during World War II. Unfortunately her father
died when she was nine so it was just Sonia and her mother Celina
growing up. Sonia attended Cardinal Spellman High School right in
the Bronx, and went to Princeton University graduating in 1976
getting her B.A. Afterwards she went to Law School at Yale.
On May 26, 2009 Sonia was nominated to
for the United States Supreme Court by President Barack Obama.
Eventually after the hearings she was the first Hispanic Justice and
third woman to serve on the Supreme Court. She is a great example
for people growing up in not so great neighborhoods, and only having
one parent in there most important years can really do something
with there lives. As long as they stick to school.
