Black History Month

Performance Objective:

The learner will use Microsoft FrontPage in order to create and design a three-page Black History website.

 Directions:

-Create a website for Black History Month.  Black History Month reflects on, celebrates and honors the African-American experience from the times of slavery through the present day.  Everywhere you look, black culture, talent, and expression have played an enormous role in shaping America’s past and present.

-Select two successful Black Americans and create web pages to highlight the life and accomplishments of these people.  Select two notable African Americans from two different categories (Government Officials, Civil Rights Leaders, Religious Leaders, Scientists & Inventors, Abolitionists, Scholars & Educations, Entertainers, and Athletes).   http://www.factmonster.com/spot/afroambios.html

-Select a template for your Black History website.  Make sure that you will be able to edit the template (graphics, hyperlinks/buttons and text).

Rename your template folder (Name Black History)

-Make sure you have a Private folder, Image Folder and Index file in your Black History folder.

-Find graphics for your website and put them in your “images” folder.”

-Cite your sources at the bottom of each of your web pages.  (Where did you get your graphics/photos/text?)

-Create a website with at least three different web pages.

-Explain the purpose of your website on your home or index page.

-Two additional pages will be used to highlight the accomplishments of the notable Black Americans you selected.

-Include a biographical sketch of each person – When and where was each person born?  Make sure your text is paraphrased.

-Tell something about each person’s life.

-Include interesting facts about each person.

-Tell why we honor each of your selected African Americans.

-Include the awards/achievements of each of your notable Black Americans.

-Include links to related websites about each person.

-Include links to related sites about Black History Month or Famous Black Americans.

-Make sure all hyperlinks/buttons work.
