Black History Month has been celebrated annually every
February in the United States since 1976. Its purpose is the
remembrance of important people and events in African
history. Black History
Month originated from Negro History Week which was started by
Carter G. Woodson in 1926 to educate Americans about
African-American history. This
website provides information on the lives and achievements of two important Black Americans: Philip Emeagwali and Martin Luther King Jr.
