Black History Month
- Black history month started in 1926 but at that time it
was called negro history week.

- In 1976 Negro history week was expanded to Black history
month.

- February was the chosen month because
it has birthdays of two men who fought for freedom of
American slaves.

- Every year, during Black History
Month, America celebrates the invaluable contributions that
the African-American community has made to the culture and
history of our nation
|
- Black history month has marked an
essential time to study and reflect on our collective
history ever since.
