Thurgood Marshall

Born July 2, 1908 in Baltimore, Maryland. Probably the precedent for all of the civil rights' cases he took was his denial into the University of Maryland School of Law because of his race. He instead went to the Howard University School of Law and got his degree there. He set up a private practice and began working for the NAACP. His most famous case is Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. He argued that separate but equal did not give black students the same education as white students. Marshall was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals, and then the U.S. Supreme Court by Lyndon B. Johnson. He served until 1991 and the died in 1993.
