Every February, we take the time to celebrate Black History Month. This was not always a celebrated activity, it came into fruition in 1976 by the efforts of Dr. Carter G. Woodson. However, Black History is American History; therefore we should celebrate everyday. Today we will highlight two very talented African American dancers, Alvin Ailey Jr., and Katherine Dunham. Alvin Ailey which started his own dance theater has popularized modern dance around the world and Katherine Dunham for the development of modern dance. You will have the wonderful opportunity to observe biographies, videos, and pictures of their many accomplishments that have changed so many lives. Sit back, relax, open your eyes, and lets take a step back into history...
