His mother, Lennis was a beauty parlor owner and his
father, Denzel Washington Sr. was a Reverend and also
worked for the Water Department. Denzel Jr. worked as a
counselor at Camp Sloane YMCA where he performed in a
staff talent show. Thus, a college suggested he become
an actor He spent the summer of 1976 in Southern
Maryland acting summer stock theater. Shortly after, he
made his professional debut in the 1977 TV movie
"Wilma." |
