Lonnie Johnson (born October 6, 1949) is best known as the inventor of the Super Soaker water gun. The top selling toy in the United States in 1991 and 1992, over 40 million Super Soakers have generated over $200 million in sales since 1990.

Lonnie Johnson first named the Super Soaker the "Power Drencher." He was an Aerospace Engineer from Los Angeles. In 1982, Lonnie did not mean to invent the super soaker but was playing around with his sink nozzle and a shot of water sprayed out. Thus the Super soaker was born.
